I searched the Jeddah Provincial Secretariat andthe Saudi Council of Engineers to strengthen cooperation aimed at developing the engineering work system and improving the quality of professional practice, coinciding with the upcoming launch of the «Ma’tamad» platform, which aims to standardize engineering transactions and enhance their reliability.
This announcement came during a meeting at the Secretariat’s headquarters between Jeddah Governorate Secretary Ihsan bin Abbas Bafqih, Ahmed bin Tarees Al-Sheikh, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Saudi Council of Engineers, and the Authority’s Secretary-General, Musa’id bin Abdullah Al-Otaibi, in the presence of Abdulrahman bin Ahmed Al-Arini, Deputy Minister of Municipalities and Housing for Licensing and Project Coordination.
The meeting reviewed the Society’s strategic direction and a number of its initiatives and projects aimed at developing the engineering sector and improving the quality of services provided to beneficiaries, in addition to exploring areas of integration between the Authority and the Jeddah Municipality. The «Ma’tamad» platform was a key focus of the meeting, as the Authority provided an overview of the unified platform for engineering transactions—scheduled to launch soon—and the services it offers, which are designed to enhance the reliability of procedures and transactions in the engineering sector.
The platform’s most notable services include model contracts for design and engineering supervision work, as well as certificates of code compliance and urban identity, thereby supporting the regulation of transactions and raising the quality of engineering services. The two sides also discussed the role of the Saudi Engineering Arbitration Center in resolving disputes related to engineering work, through arbitration, mediation, and other alternative dispute resolution methods, thereby enhancing the sector’s efficiency and providing a more effective professional environment for resolving disputes.
The meeting addressed the next steps to strengthen the partnership between the Jeddah Municipality and the Saudi Council of Engineers, foremost among which is harmonizing licensing services at the Municipality, in addition to expanding cooperation in the areas of media and public awareness.
These initiatives are part of efforts to strengthen integration among entities related to the engineering sector and to develop frameworks for cooperation that support the reliability of engineering practices and services, enhance the sector’s efficiency, and improve the experience of beneficiaries.
