The Ministry of Municipalities and Housing announced that more than 12,000 families benefited from the Rent Support Program during the first half of 2026, as part of housing solutions aimed at eligible families, designed to assist them when they are unable to pay rent due to circumstances beyond their control and to support their housing stability.
The Ministry clarified that the program provides support to eligible cases after an enforceable judgment has been issued against the beneficiary; the case is automatically referred from the Enforcement Court through electronic integration with the relevant authorities, so that the Central Committee can review the case, determine the appropriate type of support, and complete the payment procedures within a period not exceeding 30 days from the date of referral by the enforcement court.

It noted that eligibility for the program requires the existence of a residential lease agreement registered in the electronic network for rental services “Ejar” as an enforceable instrument, in addition to the referred case meeting the eligibility criteria, thereby ensuring that support reaches those entitled to it in accordance with approved procedures and regulations.
She added that the program covers citizens unable to pay their rent within the categories specified by the Cabinet’s decision, namely: (the family of a deceased person, prisoners, the sick, and those with limited financial means), provided that each case is reviewed by the relevant committee before the support is approved.

It should be noted that the Rent Support Program was issued pursuant to Cabinet Decision No. (405) and is part of the system of Developmental Housing programs aimed at eligible families, to provide housing solutions that contribute to enhancing family stability and social protection.
