Lumber prices rose by more than 10% during last month's trading

Official Report: Timber prices in Saudi Arabia rose on a year-over-year basis in July 2026 but fell on a month-over-month basis, with Romanian timber leading the increases.

Prices for timber in Saudi Arabia varied during July 2026, with all monitored types rising on a year-over-year basis but declining compared to the levels recorded last June, according to the report «Building Materials Prices» issued by the Saudi Contractors Authority. The report showed that Romanian wood topped the list of annual increases, after its price reached 1,631.11 riyals in July 2026, compared to 1,482.31 riyals in the same month last year, an increase of 10.04%.

Chilean wood ranked second with an annual increase of 7.11%, reaching a price of 1,590.41 riyals in July, compared to 1,484.87 riyals in July 2025. The price of African teak also rose by 3.68% year-over-year, reaching 6,956.93 riyals in July 2026, compared to 6,709.84 riyals a year earlier, while Indonesian ablacash recorded the lowest annual increase among the four species, at approximately 0.34%, rising to 3,150.49 riyals from 3,139.96 riyals. On a monthly basis, prices for all wood species trended downward in July compared to June 2026, with the price of Chilean wood falling by 2.84% from 1,653.36 riyals to 1,590.41 riyals.

The price of Romanian wood fell by 1.84%, reaching 1,631.11 riyals in July compared to 1,661.70 riyals in June, while African teak fell by 0.61% from 6,999.74 riyals to 6,956.93 riyals. The price of Indonesian ablacash also fell by 1.49%, reaching 3,150.49 riyals in July compared to 3,198.18 riyals in June.

The report tracked timber price movements throughout 2025, noting that Chilean wood reached its highest price in March at 1,583.25 riyals, compared to a low of 1,484.87 riyals in June. As for Romanian timber, it reached its highest price of 1,500.89 riyals in June 2025, while it recorded its lowest price at 1,443.32 riyals in September. African wood reached its highest level at 6,801.25 riyals in June, compared to a low of 6,201.32 riyals in January. Indonesian Ablakash reached its highest price in June 2025 at 3,160.83 riyals, while its lowest price was recorded in December at 3,060.70 riyals.
