Saudi Aramco has started construction work on the world's largest industrial gas complex for a major U.S.-Saudi investment of SR7.8 billion (US$2.1 billion).

The Jazan refinery and impoundment, which is wholly owned by Saudi Aramco, plays a very important strategic and pivotal role in achieving one of the most important goals and pillars of the National Transformation 2020, which is to generate more than 450,000 jobs by 2020.Huge work is currently underway in the construction of the Jazan refinery facilities, including the construction of the world's largest power plant operating with liquid-to-gas conversion and combined fuel cycle technologies, as it is planned that this plant will benefit from the refinery's production of vacuum feedback to generate approximately 4,000 MW of electricity sufficient to feed the refinery and provide electricity to investors, and export 2400 MW of it to the public electricity grid.

Engineering at the refinery is well advanced with more than 95% and construction with more than 20%, the refinery is scheduled for commissioning and the project provides about 2,000 direct jobs.
