Experts and specialists: Smart buildings, innovative designs and thermal insulation contribute to reducing electricity bills

Experts in the field of energy recommended the need to apply the standards of balanced energy consumption during the operation of electrical appliances or lighting and spread the culture of optimal use of electrical energy, to ensure that the subscriber receives a reduced bill, as part of the Kingdom's new strategy aimed at delivering support to those who deserve it, by supporting the least consuming segments, which are the majority of subscribers.

Bill balance and the culture of rationalization

According to the Saudi Electricity Company (SEC), 77% of the total 5.5 million residential subscribers were not affected by the bill.5 million subscribers were not affected by the new tariff, and more than 4 million residential subscribers did not exceed the value of their bill in the same month of 300 riyals, and only 23% of subscribers were affected by the new tariff, which confirms what experts pointed out about the spread of the culture of balanced energy use in society, in addition to awareness of measures that will reduce the value of the electricity bill, especially during the summer season.

The experts emphasized that official statistics indicated that the percentage of those affected by the increase in the value of the bill is not high, as consumers can control the value of the bill by rationalizing energy by setting the temperature of room air conditioners at moderate rates, let's say 24 degrees Celsius - which is suitable for the atmosphere of the Kingdom.

Smart Building Development

For his part, Engineer Nasser bin Abdulaziz Al-Suhail called for the development of smart buildings, which has become a global movement, and described it as important to reduce energy consumption and conservation and effective use of resources and to improve the quality of the indoor environment, and that the smart home can communicate with it through the devices that we always use such as mobile phones, computers and Internet networks in case the person is outside the house, and in case he is inside the house there are many ways to communicate with the smart home to facilitate and comfort and to save time and energy significantly, with the possibility of programming fixed and non-fixed modes by time, date or specific days.

Engineer Al-Suhail praised the efforts of the Saudi Electricity Company to compete on global performance indicators is not complete without spreading the culture of optimal use of electrical energy and awareness, and the spread of these standards among citizens and residents as happens in developed countries, noting that the new tariff for electrical service in the Kingdom is in line with the Kingdom's Vision 2030, which seeks to restructure the national economy to ensure building a strong economy based on diversity and redirect state resources and support for projects and deserving segments of society and preserve state energy resources, noting that it was observed that the start of the

Energy Reduction Designs

In the same context, Engineer Yasser Al-Hassan emphasized the need for SEC to continue its awareness campaigns and spread the culture of balanced consumption of electrical energy, especially as it seeks to compete on global performance indicators in all its sectors after becoming the largest electric power company in the Middle East and North Africa, and after the number of subscribers exceeded eight million.

Engineer Yasser Al-Hassan stressed the need for the Saudi Electricity Company to continue its awareness campaigns and spread the culture of balanced consumption of electrical energy.

Husan pointed out that half of the energy consumed by humans is inside buildings, so a huge amount of energy can be saved by adopting designs that contribute to reducing the costs of cooling, heating, air conditioning and lighting in buildings, as well as by adhering to thermal insulation technology, noting that thermal insulation technology contributes to reducing the time required for cooling inside the house and saving wasted energy.
