The Saudi Railways Company (SAR) was able to achieve 80% of the railway line (North-South), which will be completed in 2014, as the company's project manager, M. SAR has organized An introductory tour for the media during the last period with the aim of introducing the level of achievement in the company's projects in the Qassim region, where the company's introductory trip started from Buraydah towards the north for a distance of 110 km, specifically at the railway line coming from Hazm Al-Jalameed towards Ras Al-Khair and vice versa, and watching the 120 phosphate train wagons that exceed a total length of 2.5 km while crossing the region towards the north, and more than 2.5 million tons have been transported since its inception.
The company's project manager explained that the train wagons contain approximately 480 truckloads, which reduces the burden on roads and reduces the cost, in addition to reducing the rate of accidents, adding that the presence of railways and train stations in areas far from major cities will contribute to the employment of the people of those areas and open job opportunities for them and raise their income and economic level.
For his part, Sulaiman Al-Khowaiter, Marketing Director at SAR, explained that the completion rate of the railway in the north-south line to King Khalid Airport has reached 80% and the work will be fully completed to extend the railway and the five passenger stations in Al-Mujamah, Al-Qassim, Hail, Al-Jouf and Al-Qurayyat by the end of 2014.
