<The Supreme Committee for Projects and Planning recently held its 123rd meeting under the chairmanship of His Royal Highness Prince Sattam bin Abdulaziz, Acting Chairman of the Supreme Executive Committee for Projects and Planning for Riyadh City, at the headquarters of the Higher Authority for the Development of Riyadh City in the Embassies neighborhood.
Engineer Abdullatif bin Abdulmalik Al-Sheikh, member of the Supreme Commission for the Development of Riyadh City and head of the Projects and Planning Center, explained that the meeting approved the following:
First: Awarding the contract for the implementation of the King Abdulaziz Road intersection bridge project with King Abdullah Road, which, God willing, will contribute to raising the efficiency of this intersection and facilitating the flow of traffic. The bridge will serve about 100,000 cars per day. The bridge consists of three lanes in each direction and has a length of about 800 meters. The design has been prepared to allow turning movements under the bridge, which increases the efficiency of the intersection.
Second: The meeting approved the award of the contract for the implementation of groundwater level reduction in the neighborhoods of Al-Sahafa, Al-Yasmin and Al-Nada with a total length of up to 30 km. This project comes as a continuation of the comprehensive remedial program for the issue of high water levels in Riyadh, which is carried out by the Authority, where more than 292 km of networks have been implemented since the start of the program, including most of the affected neighborhoods in the city, while a group of groundwater level reduction projects with network lengths of up to 87 km are being implemented. Third: The meeting approved the award of the project to expand the headquarters of the General Secretariat of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf in Riyadh, as a result of the need to expand the current building of the Secretariat with the expansion and development of the tasks and responsibilities of the General Secretariat of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf. The project includes the construction of a new three-story building connected to the current building. In addition to the services building, planting and coordination works for external areas.
Fourth: The meeting approved the award of the contract for the implementation of operation, maintenance and cleaning works in the environmental rehabilitation areas of Wadi Hanifa.
