Engineering Practice Standards Approved
More than 1,200 residents with fake engineering certificates disqualified
Riyadh-Lamlak
The Saudi Board of Engineers has excluded more than 1,200 residents from the Kingdom for forging engineering certificates.
The Secretary General of the Commission, Dr. Ghazi Al-Abbasi, explained that no residency can be renewed until after reviewing the Board of Engineers, verifying the authenticity of the certificate he holds, as well as addressing the university in which he graduated.
For his part, Dr. Al-Abbasi pointed out that the profession of more than 15 thousand non-Saudis who came to the Kingdom under the name of an engineer, who do not hold an engineering degree, has been changed after they admitted that their residency carries the profession of an engineer, who does not hold an engineering degree, and that the number of certified engineers in the Kingdom is 120 thousand engineers, including 7 thousand Saudi engineers, and the rest are non-Saudis, where Saudis represent less than 18%.The Secretary of the Commission said: Our work depends on electronic work, so the situation in correcting the status of workers was suitable for us, and there was no crowding, and we are now coming to an electronic project that serves the category of engineers in terms of opening engineering offices, renewal, or accreditation by the Commission.
He said: Through this service, engineering jobs, professional and technical cadres are provided to all relevant sectors, review the most prominent vacancies in engineering offices and companies, and others and select the best resumes listed on the e-recruitment website. The aim of this is to eliminate unemployment among graduates of engineering colleges, in addition to putting it as a link between engineers and companies wishing to hire Saudi engineers, especially since there are thousands of residents who have abandoned their jobs.
The professional accreditation recently approved by the Commission includes the foundations and standards of practicing and developing the profession, to ensure that engineering certificates from inside and outside the Kingdom are not forged, and articles in the executive regulations of the accreditation stipulate that Saudi engineers and residents must register professionally with the Commission. Dr. Al-Abbasi stressed that the aim of registration is to evaluate the academic qualifications and practical experiences of those working in the profession, and to maintain continuous development in order to develop the skills of engineers and follow up what is new in their field of specialization, in addition to providing and applying the best professional practices from engineers, as we look forward to finding a professional record for the engineer documenting his qualification level and professional experiences, as well as the condition set by the Authority in registering for professional accreditation, obtaining qualification points during the three years after obtaining a professional degree, engineer 80 qualification points, associate engineer 60 points, professional engineer 60 points, engineer Ms.
