Sudan to build Africa's largest airport

On the sidelines of the Bahrain International Airshow 2014, Sudan signed a commercial agreement with the Chinese company (EBE), an agreement worth 680 million dollars, to implement the second phase of the new Khartoum International Airport, which is the largest airport in the African continent.
This second agreement was signed on the sidelines of the Bahrain International Airshow 2014. <This is the second agreement with the Chinese company, which was entrusted with the implementation of the first phase of the construction of the infrastructure of the new airport, which cost 700 million dollars, where the implementation of this phase will be carried out within 40 months from the beginning of the middle of this year. The two phases of construction will enable the new airport, which connects the states of Khartoum, North Darfur and White Nile, to serve 12 million passengers annually, up from 4 million passengers currently at the old airport. Fatima Mohammed Latif, Director of the New Airport Project, confirmed that the Chinese company will carry out all infrastructure-related operations for the two construction phases, and that international consulting companies will be assigned to supervise the construction operations in accordance with the standards set by the World Aviation Organization for airport buildings.
<Fatima noted that the Government of Sudan has prepared all the facilities that facilitate navigation operations for the two phases, including the internal roads of each state, in addition to the highways connecting these states, the outer walls of the airport and the control towers designed according to international standards. The new airport is located about 40 kilometers away from the Sudanese capital Khartoum, and is equipped with the latest technical and technical means related to logistical services, for incoming, outgoing and transit aircraft, cargo, storage and other operations, as this airport will be the most efficient regional airport to connect between various international systems and the most important at the level of connecting the Arab countries and the African continent. With regard to investments in the various internal airport facilities, Ms. Fatima said that we welcome all Arab and foreign investments, especially Gulf investments, the value of which in various fields in Sudan is estimated at tens of billions of dollars.
