Under the patronage of His Royal Highness Prince Faisal bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Governor of Medina, and in the presence of representatives of several government and private entities, the Green Building Forum 2014 organized a specialized workshop entitled “Possibilities of transition to environmentally friendly construction in the Kingdom.”
The Chairman of the Forum, Engineer Majdi Abdulkarim Bukhari, explained that the axes of the workshop included the axis of the infrastructure necessary for green construction, the axis of qualification requirements for engineering supervision on the construction of environmentally friendly housing, and the axis of channels of awareness programs for owners of the benefits of environmentally friendly construction.
For his part, Ali Hassan Awari, Secretary General of the Madinah Chamber, emphasized that the region has a great interest in green building, based on the great renaissance witnessed by the building and construction sector in the region as a result of the major expansion of the Prophet's Mosque.
The Director of the Small and Medium Enterprises and Initiatives Development Center, Abdulwahid Al Abadi, also stressed the need for engineering offices and contractors to be prepared to deal with the requirements and standards of green building and increase their readiness to implement the upcoming multiple projects by completing the required qualification programs for their engineers and technicians.
It is worth mentioning that the Green Building Forum 2014 is held under the slogan “And you carve mountains into houses” and seeks to develop the practices of the engineering and contracting sectors in the Kingdom to commit to protecting the Kingdom's environment for successive generations and to contribute to the development of new values based on innovative ideas and the use of green products in buildings with effective designs and to keep pace with modern trends in the development of cities and urban areas and achieve sustainable development in all regions.
The Forum is held under the slogan "You carve the mountains into houses".
