With the participation of major international companies and entities, the annual MENA Information Security Conference 2017 will kick off in Riyadh on Tuesday in its second Saudi edition, in the presence of major international companies and entities specialized in information security and technology, amid the escalation of the level of cyber attacks, and a number of specialized working papers will be presented
The conference will discuss important working papers that will provide a detailed “roadmap” for the nature of the cyber threats facing the Kingdom and the Arab Gulf countries in general. The Executive Director of the conference, Engineer Samer Omar, explained that cybersecurity is an essential part of any national security policy, noting that developed countries classify defense and information security issues as a priority in their national defense policies,” stressing that the conference is in line with Vision 2030 and the National Transformation Program 2020.

Engineer Samer Omar considered that the Kingdom's establishment of a specialized authority for cybersecurity is a successful strategic step, especially that it came at an appropriate time, after the escalation of attacks on its information infrastructure, and stressed that linking the authority to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud - may God protect him - gives it a very important meaning.

The President is scheduled to deliver a keynote speech at the conference. Dr. Khalid Al Bayari, CEO of Saudi Telecom Group (STC), is scheduled to deliver a welcome speech at the conference, during which he will highlight the importance of cybersecurity in the Middle East and the challenges of securing digital information in light of escalating cyberattacks.
