<The Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Saudi Contractors Authority, Osama Al-Afaleq, revealed that a number of the Authority's initiatives have been delayed due to its limited resources, which depend on funding and sponsorship, which are very limited, and Al-Afaleq confirmed that the Authority suffers from a shortage of revenues, which caused a delay in the listed works that the Authority intended to accomplish this year according to the announced strategy. Al-Afaleq explained that the number of institutions that have registered with the Authority does not exceed 150 institutions, “so there is no solution except registration, which ensures the activation of the regulation and the provision of revenues,” pointing out that the Authority reached only 40 percent of the capital approved at the beginning of the year at 50 million riyals, so it was forced to reduce it,“ indicating that the Authority's funding is through debt and registration, although it has not achieved significant revenues.

<He explained that the Authority is waiting for the Contractors Financing Committee, which consists of government agencies, the Board of Engineers and the Contractors Authority, to reconsider the mechanism of financing contractors, indicating that ”the committee is still new and we are waiting for it." He noted that the Authority borrowed ten million riyals from a bank to facilitate work and implement the planned plans, due to the lack of revenues, stressing the need for support from the concerned authorities and granting the Authority the powers approved for it to achieve its goals, implement initiatives and overcome challenges.
