Bahrain's Ministry of Housing launches “Mazaya” program to finance and build housing units and completes 2,500 dwellings

Bahrain's Minister of Housing, Engineer Bassem bin Yaqoub Al Hamar, stressed the importance of the cooperation document that Bahrain, represented by the Ministry of Housing, recently concluded with the United Nations Development Office, which aims to develop housing policies in the Kingdom, by preparing studies that assess the current status of the social housing file in the Kingdom, and ways to develop housing policies to ensure the long-term sustainability of the housing file.

The Minister of Housing pointed out during the meeting that the step of concluding the cooperation agreement with the United Nations comes in line with the housing commitment contained in the government's work program, related to the development of housing policies, as the Government of Bahrain, headed by HRH Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, seeks to find innovative and ambitious solutions that aim to sustain the housing services to citizens.

The Ministry also launched the "Mazaya' program to provide financing solutions for citizens to purchase suitable housing units by real estate development companies in Bahrain, stressing that these initiatives have greatly contributed to the revival of the real estate sector in the Kingdom, and the Ministry was able to settle more than 2500 citizens in their units through this ambitious program, which the Ministry views as the future of social housing in the Kingdom.

He said that the Ministry of Housing has initiated over the past years to develop solutions and initiatives aimed at accelerating the provision of housing services to citizens, and reducing the gap between supply and demand for housing services, launched the first joint project between the public and private sector to implement about 2500 housing units in the Northern City and Al Lawzi area on government lands, which are nearing completion and delivery to beneficiaries, which contributed to reducing the lists of beneficiaries.
