The Ministry of Housing intends to support citizens who defaulted on rent payments who rented their homes through the “Ejar” network with amounts up to 22 thousand riyals, starting next August, and indicated that the number of citizens in the “Ejar” network who were exempted from paying rents after confirming their poor financial solvency reached about 3 thousand citizens, indicating that the number can increase with the allocation of a budget for the default support program.

The Cabinet approved in 2016 the formation of a committee (or more) in each region or province by a decision of the Minister of Housing, whose task is to deal with cases in which the tenant is a Saudi unable to pay the rent or vacate the property, either due to his imprisonment, illness, death or poor financial ability.

Mohammad Al-Batti, CEO of the National Housing Company, had said during the launch of Ejar network last February that in case the tenant defaults and cannot pay the rent, committees for supporting defaulters within Ejar network review those cases eligible for support and pay for them.
