The periodic bulletin of the Ministry of Housing revealed that the total number of new housing units in the housing market during 2017 reached 401285 units, and the bulletin indicated that the construction completion index issued by the Saudi Electricity Company, which is concerned with the delivery of electricity to residential units after the completion of their construction, witnessed an increase of 12.6% in the total residential units built during the fourth quarter of 2017 compared to the third quarter of the same year, as the number of completed residential units in the fourth quarter of 2017 reached about 105068 units compared to 94,237 units during the third quarter.
At the level of major cities in the Kingdom, the index, which uses electricity meters as the unit of measurement, indicates that Jeddah came first in the number of new housing units with a total of 56694 new housing units during 2017, followed by Riyadh in second place with 51705 new units and Mecca in third place with 38245 housing units.
