The Jeddah Islamic Port has utilized technology and automation in various procedures for processing the arrival of pilgrims through the largest seaport in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, as part of its operational plan for this year’s Hajj season (1439 AH). The port has mobilized all its human and material resources to welcome and see off pilgrims, facilitate their arrival and departure procedures, and ensure the highest levels of safety and security for the ships transporting them by applyinginternational standards in this regard.
The Director General of Jeddah Islamic Port, Captain Abdullah bin Awad Al-Zama’i, the provision of qualified Saudi personnel to oversee maintenance and operational work, prepare naval vessels and multipurpose equipment, and assign maritime inspectors to work around the clock to inspect ships transporting pilgrims to ensure their safety andfor passenger transport, and their compliance with international equipment standards and agreements for the safety of life at sea. This is part of the port’s efforts to provide everything necessary to ensure the safety, comfort, care, and security of the guests of the Most Merciful during this year’s Hajj season.
Al-Zama’i highlighted the thorough preparation of the arrival and departure halls, the implementation of numerous improvement projects to increase the terminal’s capacity and operational efficiency, and coordination with government agencies related to passenger services —Customs, Passport Control, the Port Security Unit, and the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah—to ensure that procedures for arriving and departing pilgrims are completed swiftly and smoothly in accordance with established protocols, and to promptly resolve any obstacles.
He noted that the plan also aims to provide primary medical care to arriving and departing pilgrims and passengers through the relevant government agency, to continue intensifying monitoring and inspections of ships to ensure their seaworthiness and that all safety measures are in place, and to provide a healthy environmentin coordination with the relevant government agencies, in addition to facilitating the transfer of pilgrims from the passenger terminal to the buses transporting them and vice versa upon their departure.
