<Tatweer Buildings Company (TBC), a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Public Investment Fund, the implementing arm of the Ministry of Education, has offered 345 lands owned by the Ministry for investment and leasing to private investors.The company launched several investment programs according to the type of assets and worked to develop them in line with the wishes of investors, which included leasing non-operational educational buildings to the private sector to restart them as private schools.
This comes at a time when Tatweer Buildings TBC announced the supply and installation of school furniture for 53 of the Ministry's stalled projects assigned to the company.
The number of stalled Ministry of Education projects assigned to Tatweer Buildings Company, which has completed the implementation of 79 buildings, provides study seats for 57 thousand students, at a total cost of 35 million riyals.
The company explained that in preparation for the new academic year, the warehouses received more than 65 thousand air conditioners, and completed the maintenance of more than 18 thousand chairs and tables in the Ministry of Education schools that it operates and maintains, to welcome the new academic year.
The General Directorate of Education in the Riyadh region received 71 educational buildings for boys and girls during the period from 1/8/1441 AH to 1/1/1/1443 AH with 1287 classrooms with a capacity of 38610 male and female students.
Hamad Al-Wuhaibi, Director General of Education in the Riyadh region, said that educational buildings for girls amounted to 46 educational buildings with a total of 791 classrooms for 23730 female students.While the total number of buildings for boys amounted to 25 buildings with a total of 496 classrooms and a capacity of 14,880, at a total cost of more than 735 million riyals, and 70 rented buildings were dispensed with.
The Director General noted that in preparation for the launch of an exceptional academic year in an exceptional circumstance, the School Buildings Department continued to work on supervision, coordination, follow-up and delivery of buildings from the implementation entity, and the Department received 26425 materials related to precautionary measures and preventive measures on schools and educational buildings in the region.
