<In order to strengthen the role of partnership between the Riyadh Development Authority (RDA) and the city's residents, a competition was launched today to choose the names of the giant TBM tunnel boring machines, which will carry out all the tunnel digging operations for the train, based on the great importance of the machines used in the construction of the project, and following the tradition followed in major public transportation projects in the world, by naming these giant machines with symbolic names. <It is worth mentioning that these machines were specially manufactured for the project in major factories and are now being transported in preparation for their installation at the work sites. The number of machines used in the project is seven, and they are being used to dig tunnels for three tracks within the project with a total length of 35 kilometers, where the machines perform a set of major tasks simultaneously, including: Excavating up to 30 meters underground, moving soil, building the tunnel wall, and laying the railway inside the tunnel. The length of each machine varies between 90 and 120 meters, and the daily digging volume of each machine is estimated to be equivalent to 200 trucks, and the weight of one machine reaches about 1528 tons.

All residents of Riyadh can participate in the competition via the competition webpage (www.Riyadh-Metro.com\TBM3), which includes the registration requirements, the method of identifying the proposed names of the machines, and the prizes allocated to each winner.
