With an investment of 700 million riyals, the largest factory for the production of solar panels in the Middle East and North Africa region was inaugurated yesterday in the presence of His Excellency the Deputy Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources, Engineer Osama bin Abdulaziz Al-Zamil. The first phase of production has begun at the industrial city in the Tabuk.
During the inauguration, His Excellency the Deputy Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources emphasized that this plant aims to stimulate investment in solar energy, diversify energy sources, and facilitate integration with relevant government agencies and the private sector—represented by industrial investors—to support industries related to renewable and sustainable energy throughout the Kingdom.
The presence of such plants in the city of Tabuk, in particular, carries strategic significance; especially given its proximity to major projects such as «Neom» and the Red Sea, as well as the availability of qualified Saudi personnel to fill the various positions required by these plants. The plant’s total area exceeds 27,000 square meters, with an estimated production capacity of 1.2 gigawatts.
