The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is currently participating in the World Economic Forum 2022, held in Davos, Switzerland, from May 22 to 26 under the theme “History at a Turning Point: Government Policies and Business Strategies.”
The Kingdom's delegation is headed by Minister of State and Cabinet Member Dr. Ibrahim bin Abdulaziz Al-Assaf, and includes Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Minister of Investment Engineer Khalid bin Abdulaziz Al-Falih, Minister of Finance Mohammed bin Abdullah Al-Jadaan, Minister of Communications and Information Technology Engineer Abdullah bin Amer Al-Swaha, Minister of Economy and Planning Faisal bin Fadel Al-Ibrahim, and Princess Hayfa bint Mohammed, Assistant Minister of Tourism.
The delegation will engage in meaningful dialog with its international partners participating in several plenary and private sessions to develop effective solutions to global challenges, including climate change, economic conditions, global supply insecurity and geopolitical risks, energy security, as well as the ongoing risks of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The delegation will present the Kingdom's perspective and local and international efforts in responding to the eight key issues revolving around the themes of this year's meetings: climate and environment, creating fairer economies, technology and innovation, jobs and skills, improving the business environment, health and healthcare, international cooperation, and society and justice.
During the sessions and bilateral meetings, members of the delegation will review the Kingdom's achievements in responding to the global challenges addressed by these themes, by presenting the qualitative leap in the development of the business environment and the lessons learned globally in terms of diversifying the economy and sources of income, as well as the efforts of comprehensive social and economic empowerment of all groups and the accompanying successes, including doubling the contribution of women in the labor market and accelerating the pace of job creation in new economic sectors, and the advanced positions achieved by the Kingdom in responding to the COVID-19 pandemic and then recovering at all levels, in addition to the initiatives carried out by Hamam Al-Khalifa.
The delegation will also present the Kingdom's vision for the future of enhancing the capabilities of cadres and talents and supporting the adoption of smart solutions based on advanced technology and solutions of the fourth industrial revolution, its view on the security of key resources and commodities and its pivotal role in ensuring the security and stability of energy markets as well as its efforts to diversify the energy mix locally and globally and its long-term investments in this field.
The delegation will also present the Kingdom's vision for the future.
This year's edition of the World Economic Forum is exceptional on all fronts, as it is the first in-person session since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.19 pandemic, and is expected to host more than 2,500 international leaders, business leaders, investors and decision-makers. The sessions coincide with the geopolitical and economic developments in the world that have posed serious challenges to global growth and disrupted supply chains, and the forum seeks to promote joint international action to build understandings and common ground to overcome the current circumstances, according to SPA.
