The Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported a report and statistics on the increase in the number of hotels and hotel apartments in the Riyadh region and licensed by the branch of the General Authority for Tourism and Antiquities in the region, where the number of hotels reached 85 hotels, an increase of 40 % compared to more than two years ago, including 45 5-star hotels, and 25 4-star hotels, while furnished residential units licensed in the Saudi market reached about 1000 residential units and hotel apartments.
.According to the latest statistics of the Authority's branch in Riyadh, the total number of licenses issued by the branch for all tourism activities “tourist accommodation, travel and tourism agencies, tourist guides and tour operators” reached about 1643 licenses, of which 500 licenses were for travel and tourism agencies and offices, and the capital hosts more than 130 licensed and accredited internal and external guides and tour operators, while the number of hotel rooms reached more than 22 thousand rooms.

According to (SPA), the growth of investment in tourism and hospitality is due to the new regulations applied by the Tourism Authority in the growth of hotel investments in Saudi Arabia increasingly, and the entry of a large number of international hotel companies in the Saudi market after the authority developed the hotel sector, classified it, stimulated investment in it, tightened control and imposed justice for the consumer and investor alike.
According to (SPA). Abdulaziz Al Hassan, Director General of the General Authority for Tourism and Antiquities in Riyadh, said that the capital is one of the most Saudi cities in the number of hotel rooms and hotel occupancy, pointing out that Riyadh hotels are characterized by a high occupancy rate throughout the year from business tourism, whether from visitors to the city from within Saudi Arabia who come to review government departments and hospitals or from local tourists, or external visitors who come to participate in exhibitions, conferences and others.
