The Jeddah Provincial Secretariat has decided to evict 180 sites designated for worker housing as part of its field inspections to ensure compliance with the requirements in group housing for individuals and the validity of their licenses, with the aim of enhancing the services provided to citizens, improving the quality of life in the Kingdom’s cities, and safeguarding public health for all.
For his part, Engineer Muhammad bin Ibrahim Al-Zahrani, advisor to His Excellency the Mayor of Jeddah for the Workers’ Housing and Environmental Oversight Program, explained that the field inspections covered 934 sites in Jeddah’s neighborhoods, with the aim of raising the level of compliance at sites designated for worker housing, as well as inspecting and sanitizing them in collaboration with government agencies, each according to its assigned roles.
He noted that violations were documented and fines were issued in accordance with municipal regulations, while efforts continue to monitor and strictly enforce the regulations on all collective housing for individuals.
