Industry conducts 1256 inspections of mining sites in March

The Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources represented by the Mining Control Agency carried out 1256 control rounds on a number of mining sites in various regions of the Kingdom during last March, and issued 21 penalties on facilities violating the mining investment system, including (12) penalties for the exploitation of sand and gravel, (7) penalties for the exploitation of bahas ore, one penalty for the exploitation of clay and one penalty for the exploitation of fill materials.

The Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources spokesperson Jarrah bin Mohammed Al-Jarrah explained that violators in the Eastern Province accounted for the largest percentage of the total penalties issued with 7 penalties, followed by the Riyadh and Asir regions with 6 penalties, while the Makkah region recorded 3 penalties, 2 penalties for each of the Medina and Tabuk regions, and Al-Baha region recorded 1 penalty. Al-Jarrah stressed the ministry's determination to continue implementing supervisory tours to follow up mining activities, ensure the protection of the sector from irregular practices, preserve mineral resources to achieve their optimal utilization, protect communities adjacent to mining areas, and apply the Mining Investment Law regulations to achieve the sustainability of the sector.

The Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources aims to increase the value realized from natural mineral resources in the Kingdom, increase the attractiveness of the sector for investment; to be the third pillar of the national industry in accordance with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030, in addition to contributing to the diversification of national income sources and developing non-oil revenues, as the value of mineral resources in the Kingdom is estimated at about five trillion riyals, spread over more than 5,300 sites.
