Building materials prices in local markets. Cement continues to rise, steel falls

Cement prices continued to rise for the second consecutive month, while steel prices continued to decline for the sixth consecutive month, at the end of April.

Average cement price

According to data of the General Authority for Statistics, the average price of cement in the Kingdom increased by the end of the month for the second month in a row, the highest level in 28 months, and the average cement price increased to 14.11 riyals per 50 kg bag by the end of the same month, the highest average since December 2020 when it reached 14.12 riyals.

The price of a ton of black cement in Saudi Arabia was 304.4 riyals at the end of April, while the price of a ton of white cement was 765.8 riyals.

Steel prices

The General Authority for Statistics data in its monthly bulletin showed that the average price of a ton of iron in the local markets at the end of last April continued to decline for the sixth month in a row, to record the lowest level since the end of 2020.

With regard to price levels on a monthly basis, all types decreased except for 6mm national steel, which rose slightly by 0.03%, while the decline rates for other types ranged between 0.7% and 1%.
