Jeddah Provincial Secretariat that it had detected 40,554 building violations during the past year, 2023, as part of its ongoing regulatory efforts to improve the urban landscape and address visual pollution in the city.
Detection of Building Violations
The Secretariat also clarified that these violations were detected during inspection tours carried out by sub-municipalities in various neighborhoods of Jeddah, as part of an intensive support plan to improve the urban landscape and monitor building violations in all their forms.
The Secretariat noted that the fieldwork accompanying these inspections resulted in 25,338 non-compliant sites being notified to rectify their status in accordance with the law, in order to ensure that building owners comply with municipal laws and regulations.
Types of violations detected
The Jeddah Municipality explained that the violations detected over the past year ranged from the absence of signs at construction sites displaying permit information to the failure to maintain such signs.
the absence of containers for building renovation waste; stockpiles exceeding the maximum permitted distance between the property line and the temporary fence; failure to fence or plant trees around the perimeter of properties in areas designated by the municipality in accordance with municipal specifications and instructions, and failure to contract with a waste hauler approved by the Municipality during construction, demolition, or renovation work.

The Municipality urged all building owners to comply with municipal laws and regulations and to rectify any violations detected on their sites, in order to ensure everyone’s safety and improve the city’s urban landscape.
