The Council of Ministers recently directed the Saudi Council of Engineers to amend its executive regulationsand defined the scope of supervision by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, especially in financial aspects and the election of the Board of Directors of the Authority, and according to the new amendment, the Ministry is entitled to request the Board of Directors of the Authority to convene the General Assembly in the event of any emergency matter that requires it, and that The Ministry of Commerce and Industry, after coordination with the Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs, the Ministry of Housing and other concerned parties, shall, after three years from the date of issuance of the decision, evaluate the results of the scope of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry's supervision of the Authority's work, the difficulties it faced and appropriate proposals, and report to the Council of Ministers for necessary action.

The amendment also included the supervision of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry on the procedures and mechanisms for nominating and electing the Board of Directors of the Authority, that each voter has one vote, to ensure the prevention of blocs when conducting the elections of the Board of Directors of the Authority, as well as amending the provisions related to the General Assembly elections and the requirements for candidates to ensure proportionate representation of different categories of engineers (owners of engineering offices - faculty members - public and private sectors). In addition to ensuring the achievement of the principle of equality, the regulation includes a provision that requires a board member to disclose any interest or relationship that arises or may arise, related to his membership in the board of directors or its decisions, directly or indirectly, in order to achieve the principle of transparency.
