Saudi Aramco, the oil and petrochemical giant in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, to build 8,521 homes for its employees, as well as several schools and community facilities, on an area of approximately 10 square kilometers of land in the Dhahran region, according to Saudi Aramco’s weekly magazine, “The Arabian Sun.“
The project site will be located 8 kilometers (6.25 miles) southwest of Aramco’s headquarters in Dhahran. No details have yet been disclosed regarding the project’s funding or the timeline for its completion. Aramco said it has signed a contract with Azmeel Contracting, based in Saudi Arabia, to build the first 955 homes and units.
A contract is expected to be signed for the construction of the remaining homes and units in Phase 1, which aims to build 1,821 units as part of South Dhahran Home Ownership Program (SDHOP) later this year.
Aramco’s workforce has grown to nearly 62,000 workers and employees over the past year, up from an estimated 57,000 workers and employees the year before. Saudi Aramco, the oil and petrochemicals company, possesses the world’s largest proven oil reserves and the highest daily production, which expands the company’s operations and justifies the growth of its workforce.
Aramco has numerous integrated residential complexes, with the company’s largest residential complex located in Dhahran, housing an estimated 10,000 workers and employees.
