The Ministry of Municipalities and Housing launched a “Because It’s My City,” in a move aimed at fostering a culture of compliance with municipal regulations and requirements in all Saudi cities. This campaign represents an ambitious initiative to develop cities, improve the efficiency of facilities and services, and promote environmental sustainability, thereby positively impacting the lives of citizens, residents, and visitors, and making Saudi cities a model to be emulated at the regional and international levels.
Key Objectives of the Campaign
In a statement, the Ministry explained that the campaign focuses on achieving a set of key objectives, most notably raising awareness among individuals and institutions about the importance of compliance and its direct impact on improving the urban landscape, finding innovative and sustainable solutions, and strengthening the partnership between the community and government agencies. The campaign also aims to streamline procedures related to compliance by individuals and businesses with regulations through the use of modern technological tools, such as the “Baladi” platform, which provides integrated digital services to support compliance and simplify procedures.
For his part, Saif bin Salem Al-Suwailem, the official spokesperson for the Ministry of Municipalities and Housing, emphasized that the “Because It’s My City” campaign falls within the framework of Saudi Vision 2030, which seeks to improve the quality of life in Saudi cities and promote environmental sustainability by establishing a culture of compliance with municipal regulations.
Al-Suwailem emphasized that the campaign is a shared responsibility that contributes to fulfilling the aspirations of Saudi cities to be modern and safe, with a sustainable urban environment, stressing that the campaign helps build national awareness that supports comprehensive development and makes Saudi cities a global model to be proud of.
Target Audience of the Campaign
He noted that the campaign targets multiple groups, including applicants for building permits, project and property owners, and design and engineering supervision firms, which play a key role in applying technical standards, as well as waste transport service providers to ensure proper disposal, and contractors, who are a pivotal element in implementing regulations on the ground.
Through this campaign, the Ministry aims to make compliance an integral part of the culture of individuals and institutions, with the goal of achieving a long-term vision that contributes to sustainable urban development.

The campaign centers on the developmental and social roles, thereby promoting the creation of integrated urban environments that encourage investment, stimulate community participation, and support the local economy through improved municipal services, organized waste management, and the achievement of sustainability, The campaign also seeks to foster a spirit of civic responsibility by highlighting the close relationship between compliance and improving the quality of life in society.
