A specialized workshop on “Women’s Work Environment in the Industrial Sector” recommended establishing fully equipped industrial complexes for women within urban areas, known as “Oasis Cities,” The workshop also recommended studying an amendment to the working hours regulations for women in factories to include both morning and evening shifts, with the aim of attracting the largest possible number of Saudi female workers as a form of incentive and encouragement to engage in such activities.
The workshop reviewed successful experiences of some companies that have employed women in the industrial sector. It also discussed the work environment for women in the industrial sector with companies and factory owners, in addition to identifying the challenges and difficulties women face in the sector.
The workshop, recently organized by the Ministry of Labor’s Al-Qassim Regional Branch at the headquarters of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Buraydah, with the participation of the Assistant Undersecretary of the Ministry of Labor for Special Programs, Mr. Abdulmoneim bin Yassin Al-Shahri, and other relevant parties, mechanisms for addressing employee turnover among women in the industrial sector, as well as examining its causes and modern approaches to training, employment, and education appropriate for this type of activity, with the aim of creating a safe and suitable work environment for Saudi women.
