The resolution prohibiting work under direct sunlight aims to protect the health and safety of field workers, and to prevent them from being exposed to health risks caused by direct sunlight and heat stress, thereby ensuring a safe and healthy work environment that meets the highest international occupational safety and health standards.
The Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development has called on all employers in the private sector to organize work schedules in accordance with the ban, and to adhere to instructions designed to strengthen preventive measures and reduce occupational accidents and injuries associated with working in extreme weather conditions, emphasizing that compliance with these regulations contributes to improving workplace efficiency and increasing overall productivity.
As part of its efforts to support the implementation of the decree, the Ministry has published two guidance manuals on its website:
Procedural Guide on Occupational Safety and Health for the Prevention of the Effects of Sun Exposure and Heat Stress.
Guidance Manual for Working in Hot Environments.
These two guides aim to raise awareness among business owners and enable them to take appropriate preventive measures to protect workers.
The Ministry has also made it possible to report any violations of the ban through the unified number (19911) or via the Ministry’s dedicated smartphone app, to ensure full compliance and enforce oversight of work environments across the Kingdom.
