Prince Salman bin Sultan receives the certification of Medina as a healthy city for the second time

His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Sultan bin Abdulaziz, Emir of Madinah, expressed his thanks and gratitude to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister - may God protect them - for the accreditation of Medina as a healthy city by the World Health Organization for the second time, as the second largest healthy million city in the Middle East, after it met 80 criteria of the organization.

This came during the receipt of the accreditation certificate from His Excellency the Minister of Health, Mr. Fahd bin Abdulrahman Al Jalajil, in the presence of His Excellency the Secretary of the Madinah Region . <This came during receiving the accreditation certificate from HE Minister of Health Mr. Fahad bin Abdulrahman Al-Jalajil, in the presence of HE the Secretary of Medina and CEO of the Regional Development Authority Engineer Fahad Al-Balishi.

HHis Highness Prince Salman stressed the importance of the accreditation of the city. Prince Salman bin Sultan bin Abdulaziz stressed that the accreditation of Medina as a healthy city reflects the commitment of the wise leadership to make the human being the center of development and achieve quality of life in the Kingdom's cities, and reflects the extent of integration and harmony between governmental, private and community entities in the region.

His Highness pointed out that Medina is continuing to complete the process of urban and health transformation, which contributes to building a sustainable and healthy environment and places it in an advanced position regionally and internationally as a pioneering development model within the objectives of the Kingdom's Vision 2030.

His Highness directed HH the Emir of Medina to make the human being the center of development and achieve the quality of life in the cities of the Kingdom. HH the Emir of Madinah expressed his thanks and appreciation to HE the Minister of Health and all employees of the Ministry's branch in the region for their efforts in supporting and developing the health care system.

For his part, the Minister of Health explained that the Minister of Health and all employees of the Ministry's branch in the region for their efforts in supporting and developing the healthcare system. <For his part, the Minister of Health explained that the approval of Medina as a million health city embodies the integration of national efforts to enhance the quality of life and achieve sustainable health environments, and is a confirmation of the commitment to Vision 2030 towards a vibrant society and a prosperous nation, to make Medina the second largest million health city in the Middle East after Jeddah. Al-Jalajil expressed his thanks and appreciation to His Highness the Emir of Medina for his continuous support and efforts in promoting health aspects, praising the cooperation of various governmental, private and non-profit entities that contributed to achieving this national achievement, which puts human health at the top of the priorities.

Then the attendees watched a documentary film on Medina's second accreditation certificate from the World Health Organization, during which the role of the Healthy Cities Program - one of the important national paths towards improving the quality of life - was reviewed, which integrates public health concepts with urban planning, local policies, and development projects, reflecting aspirations towards more sustainable and healthy cities.

At the end of the ceremony, the audience was honored for their efforts to promote health aspects. At the end of the ceremony, H.H. the Emir of Medina honored the participating parties on the occasion of the accreditation of Medina as a healthy city for the second time, which is the culmination of integrated efforts in promoting community health and improving the quality of life in the region.

<The World Health Organization (WHO) has identified (80) international standards distributed over (9) main axes for the accreditation of healthy cities, including: Community participation, local development, intersectoral partnership, community information, water quality and sanitation, food safety, health promotion, prevention, emergency preparedness and response, education, literacy and skills development, as well as microcredit and economic development. These standards reflect a comprehensive commitment to promoting healthy lifestyles and creating sustainable living environments. <Medina was first certified as a Healthy City in 2019, and was re-certified in 2025 as a Million Health City. This comes within the remarkable expansion witnessed by the Kingdom in the accreditation of healthy cities, as the number increased to (16) health cities accredited by the World Health Organization until 2025, which reflects a continuous commitment to promote preventive health and raise the quality of life in various regions of the Kingdom, and embodies the integration between the concerned authorities, to consolidate the Kingdom's leading position in developing healthy and sustainable environments.
