Taysir Al-Mufaraj, spokesperson for the General Real Estate Authority, revealed the details of the new regulatory controls regarding the relationship between the landlord and tenant, saluting His Highness Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman for the Cabinet's approval of the regulatory provisions, which reflects the leadership's keenness on the interest of the citizen and resident.

The issuance of these new regulations went through a 180-day journey until they saw the light, and the first 90 days were based on research, study and reading the experiences of the world in regulating the relationship between the landlord and the tenant until these provisions were reached, which aim to achieve stability in the real estate sector in the Saudi market.

Mufaraj indicated, during televised statements on “Al-Ikhbariya” channel, that the issuance of these new regulations went through a 180-day journey until they saw the light. According to the statements of the Real Estate Authority spokesman, the rulings issued today are a balanced system that adjusts the relationship between the landlord and the tenant, and one of its most important provisions is to stop the annual rent increase in Riyadh, and the decisions are effective on September 25 for 5 years.

About the reason for stopping the annual increase for 5 years, Al-Mufaraj explained that the aim of this order is to achieve price balance in the real estate market in Riyadh, especially after unacceptable increases were detected, hence the correction and price control, adding that the new regulations establish justice between landlord and tenant in Riyadh.
