<In a qualitative step that strengthens environmental trends and aligns with the goals of the “Green Saudi Arabia“ initiative, Ahsa Municipality has announced the implementation of a strategic initiative that requires new home owners to plant three trees within the scope of the property as a prerequisite for issuing an electricity connection license.

The initiative aims to increase vegetation cover and accelerate the transformation towards a more sustainable urban environment by integrating environmental standards into the urban development process in the governorate, and transforming residents into active partners in the quality of life. <The initiative aims to increase vegetation cover and accelerate the shift towards a more sustainable urban environment by integrating environmental standards into the governorate's urban development process and turning residents into active partners in improving the quality of life. Al-Ahsa Municipality spokesperson Khaled Bouchel explained that the initiative's implementation mechanism has been designed to be "easy and motivating", as the Municipality will provide seedlings free of charge once the request is submitted electronically, which contributes to reducing burdens on citizens and unifying efforts to achieve afforestation goals.

Bouchel pointed out that the Central Arboretum in Al-Ahsa supports this initiative with a huge production of plants and flowers, as it has doubled its production capacity to two million seedlings of seasonal flowers and 125 thousand permanent plants annually, on an area of more than 500 thousand square meters, using the latest environmental control and water treatment technologies to achieve sustainability.
