75% of Haramain train stations completed

The percentage of achievement in the Haramain Express Train Stations project has reached 75 % achieving great leaps during the past two months, as it is moving at a good pace and the results achieved are reassuring and the Ministry of Transport is keen to complete all works related to the project according to its timetable and the specified completion rates.
This was explained by the Minister of Transport and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Public Corporation for Railways, Dr. Jabara bin Eid Al-Suraisiri, during his recent field tour, accompanied by the President General of the Corporation and members of the Supervisory Committee. Al-Suraisiri indicated during his field tour of the project sites that great progress has occurred in all project works, especially in the construction of stations, where the completion rates are close to 75% and have made great leaps over the past two months. He added that good progress has been achieved in the implementation of civil works and other facilities along the railway track, especially in the fourth and fifth areas, which are now witnessing the completion of laying rails and electricity cables and installing towers to cover the trains with electric power. He added that the necessary tests and preparation of equipment and materials to start the implementation of the second phase works in the fifth area, which was recently handed over to the contractor, and preparations are underway to hand over the sixth phase of the 75 km long track, thus making the entire area between the Medina workshop and King Abdullah City Station in Rabigh in the custody of the contractor of the second phase project.
The Minister of Transport and his accompanying delegation made a field tour along the track starting from Medina through a number of work sites, where he visited the site of the train maintenance workshop in Medina and was assured of the work currently being done to prepare for the construction and construction of the maintenance and equipment workshop, which is expected to be completed before the end of this year to be ready to receive the first batch of trains that will soon arrive in the Kingdom.

He also visited the work site along the track and inspected a number of line construction works that are taking place there, including the production plant for concrete beams and molds for laying electricity cables. He also saw a number of equipment for welding and installing rails and rode a mobile equipment to check the progress of the second phase.
