<The issue of engineering certificates has received great attention among the public and private sectors, as a joint meeting between the Industrial Committee of the Riyadh Chamber and a delegation from the Saudi Commission for Engineers discussed a number of issues facing investors in the industrial sector and the implications of the long period of time and fees imposed on the registration of foreign engineers in the Commission, and how to link the system of Saudi consulates abroad with the Saudi Commission for Engineers to avoid delaying the issuance of residencies.
This came during the participation of the Authority's delegation, which included Engineer Suleiman Ibrahim Al-Amoud, Director of Professional Registration and Accreditation Department, and Majid Munawar Al-Harbi, Director of Information Technology Department, during the regular meeting of the Industrial Committee, which was held under the chairmanship of Board Member Engineer Saad Al-Mojel, and discussed means of coordination between the Committee and the Authority regarding the resolution of investor issues related to the Authority.
For their part, the members of the Authority attributed the delay in certifying certificates to the foreign engineer, stressing that there is continuous cooperation and coordination between the Authority, the General Administration of Passports and the Information Center, which contributed to solving many of the dilemmas and obstacles facing the work of the Authority, saying that there is coordination and cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to combat the phenomenon of forged certificates, explaining that the Authority is preparing a detailed statistical report that includes information on engineers with forged certificates, noting that the Authority contracted with Dataflow International Company specialized in authentication and verification, indicating that this will help reduce procedures and time duration. At the end of the meeting, the two sides emphasized the continuation of cooperation efforts to follow up the issues of facilitating the issuance of residency and certification of certificates for foreign engineers. It was also agreed that the Saudi Engineers Organization will arrange meetings with officials in the relevant government agencies to discuss the possibility of certifying the certificates of foreign engineers directly, instead of Saudi embassies and attachés abroad.
