The Big 5 2013, the Middle East's premier building and construction exhibition, will be held at the Dubai World Trade Center from November 5 to 8, with the participation of 2,500 companies from 65 countries and the presence of more than 60,000 construction industry professionals. DMG Events, the international exhibition and publishing company, said in a statement yesterday that the exhibition is the largest event in the building and construction sector in the Middle East and is held alongside the Middle East Concrete and BM Live exhibitions specialized in the cement and machinery sectors.
A study by MEED magazine, commissioned by the Big 5, revealed that the construction market in the GCC is currently the most active in the world, with a current value of $1.5 trillion.
It added that the UAE and Saudi Arabia are still the most active in the world.
It added that the UAE and Saudi Arabia remain at the forefront with a total value of current and upcoming construction projects of $629 billion and $949 billion, respectively. According to DMG Events, the 2013 Big 5 has expanded its product showcase areas with the addition of a «Building Interiors» zone to ensure that every sector of the building and construction industry has the opportunity to showcase their products and technologies in an efficient environment.
Products related to kitchens, bathrooms, ceramics and fittings are some of the most sought-after solutions in the industry today, while the new «Interiors» zone will showcase the latest products from across the region, as well as products from Italy, Spain and Greece. «Research has shown that there is a clear need to add a dedicated area to showcase building interiors products, especially for interior designers and architects attending the show,» said Andy White, Event Director, noting that there is a common misconception that the Big 5 is a building products-only event, but in fact, over the years, it has hosted some of the world's leading interior design brands.
