Ministry of Municipalities and Housing has revealed that its municipal authorities and municipalities have carried out more than 7.7 million inspection rounds over the past few months in cities, neighborhoods, commercial establishments, and construction sites, as part of their efforts to improve the urban landscape and enhance the quality of life in the Kingdom’s cities.
It explained that the inspection rounds in November resulted in the detection and resolution of 110,071 violations across various areas of municipal work, noting that the inspection efforts rely on an advanced technological system, including the “Baladi Lens” system system, which uses artificial intelligence and geospatial analytics to detect visual disturbances, in addition to the use of surveillance cameras inside food and health facilities and the application of approved checklists to monitor commercial, food, and construction activities.
The Ministry emphasized that municipal oversight is a fundamental part of its regulatory and operational responsibilities, given its connection to pedestrian safety, neighborhood cleanliness, food safety, and the quality of daily services on which residents rely, noting that these efforts have contributed to raising compliance rates in commercial and food-related activities, enhancing food safety, improving the urban landscape, and regulating the built environment across various regions of the Kingdom.
The Ministry stated that, in the coming period, it will continue to expand the scope of oversight supported by smart technologies, improve the efficiency of its response to reports, and increase the presence of field teams in neighborhoods, thereby enhancing the quality of municipal services and maintaining a safe and balanced urban environment.
The Ministry called on members of the community and businesses to support oversight efforts by reporting violations through authorized channels, emphasizing that compliance with rules and regulations is a shared responsibility, and that partnership with the community is a fundamental pillar in developing the urban landscape and achieving a cleaner, safer, and higher-quality environment in the Kingdom’s cities.
