His Royal Highness Prince Dr. Faisal bin Meshal bin Saud bin Abdulaziz, Emir of Qassim Region, inaugurated yesterday, in the presence of His Highness Prince Fahd bin Saad bin Faisal bin Saad, Deputy Emir of the region, and HE Minister of Transport and Logistics Engineer Saleh Al Jasser, (10) vital road projects in the region, at a total cost of (349) million riyals, with total lengths reaching (406) km.
During the ceremony, which was held in the Foundation Hall at the Emirate Office in Buraydah, H.H. the Emir of Qassim was briefed on the inaugurated projects, which included completing the implementation of part of the Rass/Dhariyah/Afif road with a length of (26) km, implementing the duplication of Shamasiyah road to King Fahd Highway with a length of (16) km, implementing the intersection of Abu Bakr Al-Siddiq road and the southwest ring road in Buraydah with a length of (7) km, implementing the duplication of Rass/Qasr bin Akil/Nabhaniyah road with a length of (8) km in addition to implementing a bridge for passing wadi water.
The projects included repairing damaged sites on King Fahd Road and Qassim/Hail Road with a length of (88) km, Qassim/Medina Road with a length of (196) km, and Riyadh/Qassim Road with a length of (45) km, in addition to repairing damaged sites on Riyadh/Qassim/Medina Road with a length of (20) km.
The works also included the maintenance of bridges and the replacement of metal tubular ferries with concrete box ferries, with the aim of enhancing traffic safety and keeping pace with the increasing demand on the road network, in order to ensure the smooth flow of traffic in the region.
H.H. the Emir of Qassim expressed his thanks and appreciation to the wise leadership for the generous and unlimited support for the implementation of development projects in the region, stressing that they reflect the generous support and great interest in the development of all regions of the Kingdom in order to achieve the objectives of the Kingdom's Vision 2030 aimed at improving the quality of life and promoting sustainable development, praising the efforts of the transportation and logistics system and its outstanding services that contribute to promoting comprehensive development.
His Highness pointed out that the road projects contribute to enhancing the connectivity between Qassim and neighboring regions, serve the holy places, improve the experience of the pilgrims passing through these roads, and enhance the importance of the region's position in the logistics sector.
For his part, H.E. Al-Jasser stressed that these projects are an extension of the support of the wise leadership to the transportation and logistics sector, and that the inaugurated road projects will contribute to enhancing mobility in the Qassim region and serving its visitors, pointing out that these projects are part of the National Strategy for Transport and Logistics, launched by His Highness the Crown Prince - may God protect him - and aim to establish the Kingdom as a global logistics center, as they have been implemented according to the highest safety and quality standards and the Saudi Road Code standards.
These projects will contribute to the establishment of the Kingdom as a global logistics center.
He pointed out that the projects will contribute to supporting the road network enjoyed by the Qassim region, revealing that the transport and logistics system will continue its efforts to upgrade the road network and all types of transportation, which is one of the most important national capabilities contributing to achieving the goals of the Kingdom's Vision 2030.
