Asir Municipality announced the launch of the smart drone within the latest digital transformation program, in a move that is the first of its kind in the Kingdom, with the aim of enhancing the monitoring of municipal projects and raising the efficiency of supervisory work.
The Municipality explained that the experiments were launched last February, in partnership with the Ministry of Municipalities and Housing, in coordination with the relevant authorities, where the program was applied within the cities of Abha and Khamis Mushait as a first stage.<The program relies on the operation of artificial intelligence drones, which operate without human intervention, to monitor municipal projects, monitor construction and excavation violations, waste disposal and encroachments, in addition to identifying emergency situations.<The drones also carry out cadastral elevations at high speed and accuracy, and contribute to accelerating municipal services and transactions, such as issuing licenses and approving plans, raising the level of control work, addressing visual distortions, improving the quality of project implementation, enhancing transparency and reducing the rate of errors.He pointed out that Aseer Municipality is currently working to expand the scope of the experiment by testing additional uses of the drone, including following up residents' reports, tracking maintenance and cleaning works, and other municipal services, in line with the objectives of digital transformation, and contributing to improving the quality of life in the region.
