Data provided by the Center for Tourism Information and Research (MAS) has predicted a 43% increase in expected tourist arrivals to Saudi Arabia by 2020, Deloitte revealed at the Vision Conference, held during the Hotel Equipment Show. According to figures from MAS, the number of international trips to Saudi Arabia is estimated to rise from 18 million in 2015 to 25.8 million in 2020.

Salah said that KAEC's tourism strategy aims to position the city as Saudi Arabia's leading all-purpose, must-visit tourism destination, providing growth opportunities for the country's hospitality, leisure and tourism industry as a whole. The city is an emerging leisure and residential destination on the West Coast and a regional gateway for logistics and manufacturing industries. Located 100 kilometers north of Jeddah, the city is slated for a total investment of US$100 billion and will have a residential capacity of two million people when completed in 2035.
King Abdullah Economic City is expected to attract more than 3 million tourists annually by 2025. The city is already a local weekend destination, welcoming more than 100,000 visitors in 2015. It currently has 38 tourism and leisure projects under development, including hotels, resorts and family entertainment attractions.
