As part of its efforts to enforce the requirements and preserve the health of citizens, the Riyadh Municipality closed (104) establishments related to public health, including restaurants, buffets, bakeries, juice shops, catering, fish and meat sales in all neighborhoods of Riyadh, during its sudden corrective control campaign.
Health monitors and public control staff in sub-municipalities and concerned departments recorded more than (346) field visits, during which they excluded (168) workers in violation of health regulations and requirements. They also confiscated (1170 kilograms) of meat, fish and poultry, and (249) various pieces of utensils, cooking equipment and other tools that are not suitable for use. The violations varied between the absence and expiration of health certificates for workers, the presence of disease marks on the hands of some workers, the use of utensils unfit for human consumption, in addition to poor hygiene inside these shops with the presence of meat and fish of unknown origin, crawling insects, and poor storage of food.
During the campaign, the Municipality arrested a number of street vendors (non-Saudis) violating the sales regulations, confiscated their goods, and impounded some cars for practicing the activity in the streets and roads, and for distorting the public view in the streets of the capital. These control campaigns come from the municipality to address violators of health regulations and work to raise the level of public health.
