The number of fictitious business registrations has reached 150,000, with these fictitious businesses operating across various regions of the Kingdom and spanning different sectors. The majority are in the construction, trade, maintenance, and operations sectors, as well as other activities. Some individuals seek to carry out these practices through a group public service offices.
This was revealed by informed sources at the Ministry of Labor, who stated: ””A report is currently being prepared and will be released soon, containing all details related to these registrations. This number is expected to rise as the inspection phases—which the Ministry of Labor officially announced weeks ago—are completed.»” They added that coordination between the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, the chambers of commerce, and other relevant official agencies is ongoing, and the number of fictitious registrations is expected to reach 250,000 before the end of the coming months, given the ease of the procedures and requirements for obtaining such registrations. Furthermore, a large number of fictitious commercial registrations are spread across various sectors, with the majority in construction, trade, maintenance, operations, and other activities—areas where some individuals seek to profit through these practices, which are easily and conveniently carried out by a network of public service offices.”
The sources explained: “The process simply involves visiting the Ministry of Commerce and Industry with a copy of the family register or a copy of the civil ID card—along with the originals—for the merchant, the authorized agent, and the company director, along with proof of occupation from the civil registry, a title deed or lease agreement for the business premises, and a license from therelevant government agencies for the activities to be carried out. After obtaining the commercial registration, one can join the Chamber of Commerce through the Chamber’s branch at the Ministry of Commerce.”
