The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz, issued a royal decree to the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources authorizing Saudi Aramco—which is currently implementing the Jazan Refinery and Power Plant project for the Jazan Economic City— to carry out the infrastructure work required by the Jazan Economic City in its first phase, out of his commitment—may God support him—to addressing the urgent need for development in the region.
On this occasion, His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Nasser bin Abdulaziz, Governor of the Jazan Region, on behalf of himself and the people of the Jazan Region, expressed his deepest gratitude and appreciation to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques for the attention and follow-up he has given to the development of the Jazan Region so that, God willing, it may assume its rightful economic position at both the local and regional levels, and for his guidance to all relevant government agencies and bodies to facilitate and accelerate the pace of these development efforts. His Highness commended the efforts of the various government agencies to achieve this goal, noting that the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques« directive represents additional support for development in the Jazan region and, God willing, will contribute to creating more job opportunities for the region’s residents.
For his part, Engineer Ali bin Ibrahim Al-Naimi, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, affirmed that the royal decree will accelerate work on the Jazan Economic City project to achieve the desired goals. He noted that the Ministry and Saudi Aramco are proud of this mandate from the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, as Saudi Aramco’s implementation of this project reflects the confidence of the Kingdom’s leadership in the capabilities and expertise possessed by Saudi Aramco.
His Royal Highness Prince Faisal bin Turki bin Abdulaziz, Advisor to the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, described the royal decree as a continuation of the blessed steps—God willing—taken by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques to achieve development in various regions of the Kingdom, thereby laying the foundation for for its future. His Royal Highness added that the integrated infrastructure and services to be provided in the Jazan Economic City will create an attractive investment environment in that city, God willing.
This gracious royal decree comes after consideration of the recommendation of the Standing Committee of the Supreme Economic Council, based on the report submitted to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz, may God protect him, by the Economic Cities Authority.
It is worth noting that His Majesty had previously issued a royal decree to the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, entrusting Saudi Aramco with the task of building and operating the Jazan Refinery, which will be wholly owned by the company, and integrated into the company’s refining network with the aim of meeting the Kingdom’s energy needs and exporting surplus products to global markets, making this project the backbone of the new economic city.
It is worth noting that the Jazan Economic City covers an area of 102 million square meters and targets heavy industry, petrochemicals, critical supplies, mineral industries, manufacturing, shipbuilding, and the exploitation of mineral, agricultural, and livestock resources.
Ahmed bin Abdulaziz Al-Jabrin, Director of Public Relations and Media at the Saudi Credit and Savings Bank, denied reports that the bank refuses to lend to individuals who are in debt to other banks.
He emphasized that there is no policy at the bank that prevents citizens with outstanding bank debts from benefiting from social loans.
He noted that the Saudi Credit and Savings Bank has posted all the requirements for applying to its programs on the bank’s website, which includes detailed information for all customers.
