Prince Khalid Al-Faisal, Advisor to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and Governor of the Makkah Region, revealed details of the Al-Faisaliah project—located west of Makkah and extending to the Red Sea—at a press conference held yesterday.
Prince Khalid Al-Faisal explained that the project will be carried out in seven phases and is scheduled for completion in 2050, noting that the project is an extension of the city of Makkah, will begin at Makkah’s legal boundary and end at the western coast, and will provide headquarters for all government agencies in the Makkah region.
Al-Faisal noted that the Al-Faisaliah project will be managed independently under the supervision of the Makkah Region Development Authority, calling on the private sector to contribute actively to its implementation.
For his part, the Secretary-General of the Makkah Region Development Authority, Dr. Hisham bin Abdulrahman Al-Falih, noted that the project includes an airport and a seaport, adding that the project’s waterfront will be utilized to implement a number of tourism and entertainment projects in line with Saudi Vision 2030.
