Dako signs a contract with an international company to develop Dammam Airport and build new runways and terminals

As part of its development plans, Dammam Airports Company (DACO) signed a contract with an international firm to study and develop the master plan for King Fahd International Airport at the airport’s headquarters in Dammam.

In this regard, Turki bin Abduljaouini, CEO of Dammam Airports Company, explained that the agreement is valid for one year and is divided into two phases, during which the international firm will carry out the tasks specified in the contract, including translating the airport’s long-term strategy and action plan into concrete plans and programs, securing the necessary supporting infrastructure for third-party service providers, in addition to providing the airport management with the necessary justifications for the use of spaces requested by third parties, and creating a practical tool to support decisions that the airport management will make in the future throughout the development period.

Al-Jawini noted that the company with which he signed the agreement will review the airport’s master plan by analyzing the current situation and studying future needs, and will develop a detailed development plan for operators, as well as developing additional runways and aircraft parking areas, which will contribute to enhancing the airport’s operational efficiency, constructing additional passenger terminals and new airline offices, creating thousands of additional parking spaces, and installing an advanced baggage handling system.
