The Kuwait Chamber of Commerce and Industry, chaired by Mr. Rabah Abdulrahman Al-Rabah, Director General of the Kuwait Chamber of Commerce and Industry, hosted the 33rd meeting of the Executive Leadership Committee of the Federation of Chambers of the Gulf Cooperation Council, which, in the presence and participation of the Federation of Chambers of the United Arab Emirates represented by Secretary General Hamid bin Salem and the secretaries and directors general of member associations, councils and chambers, many matters related to strengthening cooperation between the GCC countries and the importance of removing the challenges facing trade exchange through the Gulf Common Market Committee and the Customs Union, in addition to the meeting briefing
The meeting discussed activating the role of the Gulf sectoral committees, where the Secretary General of the Emirates Federation, Hamid bin Salem, stressed the importance of these committees, praising at the same time what the members of the sectoral committees have done during the past six years, stressing their importance and keeping pace with the Gulf economic reality by highlighting the main committees that adhere to the committees that discuss economic affairs in the GCC countries, namely the market committee and works to follow up the ten areas of the Gulf common market, and the customs union committee in the GCC countries and follows up the obstacles to the Gulf customs union, propose appropriate solutions to them, and prepare memos on these issues, in addition to informing the meeting about the importance of the GCC customs union.
The meeting emphasized the importance of holding a consultative meeting at the level of the Federation of GCC Chambers periodically to exchange experiences and knowledge about the work mechanisms of international relations departments as well as committee departments in the GCC Chambers with the aim of achieving best practices and developing their performance.
The meeting called on the participants to provide the General Secretariat of the Federation of GCC Chambers with the challenges facing the members of these federations and chambers regarding the implementation of the ten tracks of the Gulf Common Market. The meeting also called on the General Secretariat of the Federation to coordinate with the General Secretariat of the Gulf Cooperation Council on the mechanism for holding the third meeting between the Customs Union Authority and the Federation of GCC Chambers and the aspirations of the Gulf private sector by defining the relationship between the Authority and the Federation with a focus on the single customs point between the inter-state ports in the countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC).
