The Supervisory Committee for the Privatization of the Environment, Water, and Agriculture Sector has approved the cancellation of the tender for the Ras Al-Khair desalination and power plant, in order to align with the state’s policy of leveraging current achievements, accumulated expertise, and existing desalination assets equipped with modern technologies, confirming that preparations are currently underway to announce the new directions and ambitions shortly after the completion of arrangements and the obtaining of the necessary regulatory approvals.
The committee appreciated the interest and participation of local and international companies and consortia in the tender process for the Ras Al-Khair desalination and power plant, affirming its commitment to continuing to offer new projects and opportunities in the environment, water, and agriculture sectors within the framework of privatization and public-private partnerships.
The Saline Water Conversion Corporation will continue to manage, operate, and maintain the plant and remain committed to supplying customers with desalinated water and electricity generated by the plant without change or delay, in line with the objectives of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 to achieve water security in the Kingdom, providing services with a high level of quality and efficiency, and improving the quality of the desalination industry in the Kingdom.
