The total area of real estate units allocated during 2021, as part of the Real Estate Unit Categorization program, rose by 28 percent compared to the areas categorized in 2020, an increase estimated at more than two million square meters, with the number of units subdivided last year reaching nearly 50,000, covering a total area exceeding 10 million square meters.
This is part of ongoing efforts to regulate the real estate sector, enhance transparency, and protect the rights of owners within shared real estate complexes, and ensuring the equitable distribution of access to shared facilities, with the aim of increasing the homeownership rate among Saudi families to 70 percent by 2030, in line with the objectives of the Housing Program—one of the programs under the Kingdom’s Vision 2030.
The program explained in a press release that last year, 2021, saw the addition of a number of services and features to the “Unit Sorting” platform, most notably: the Premium Service, the Sorting Certificate, Re-sorting, and technical integration with the Malak platform, with the aim of enhancing the regulation of the residential real estate market and improving the quality of services provided.
The “Real Estate Unit Sorting” program aims to identify all information regarding a unit and its land share within the property’s co-ownership structure, as well as users" rights, to facilitate and expedite the procedures necessary for issuing the title deed, standardize and organize procedures within a unified electronic platform to safeguard the rights of all beneficiaries in joint real estate projects, reduce the time required to complete the classification process, and improve procedural efficiency.
