This announcement was made during a meeting chaired by Prince Khalid Al-Faisal, Advisor to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and Governor of Makkah, attended by officials from relevant agencies. The meeting included a review of the latest developments and progress on the project to remove informal settlements in Jeddah.

The project included the handover of developmental housing to 200 beneficiaries, and the total number of free services provided to residents of informal settlements reached 85,000, including rent payments, furniture relocation, and the distribution of meals and medications, among others.

The project’s operational mechanisms were reviewed, most notably the housing services, which cover three categories: first, families receiving social security benefits; second, homeowners living in slum areas that have been cleared who hold title deeds, for whom the state has rented housing units until they receive their compensation payments; and the third category consists of citizens residing in these neighborhoods who are not social security beneficiaries and do not possess title deeds; their cases are reviewed, and they are then provided with housing.

The first phase of compensation payments has begun, with one billion riyals allocated for this purpose, while compensation for the remaining citizens will be disbursed sequentially in several phases, according to a schedule following the completion of property inventory and appraisal, and after citizens have completed the procedures and submitted the required documents via (the compensation application mechanism).
