Under the generous patronage of His Royal Highness Prince Dr. Faisal bin Mishaal bin Saud bin Abdulaziz, Governor of Al-Qassim Region, the Second Al-Qassim Community Engagement Forum will kick off tomorrow, Sunday, November 5, and continue through November 6, in the presence of His Excellency the Minister of Municipal, Rural Affairs, and Housing, Mr. Majid bin Abdullah Al-Hogail, and a number of officials and stakeholders in the region’s nonprofit sector.
This second edition of the forum is being held under the slogan “Community Solidarity,” aiming to highlight the creation of urban parks, their importance to residential areas, their key features, and the mechanisms for their implementation and management, as well as the role of community participation in activating their various programs and activities.
The forum focuses on inviting creative youth initiatives related to community participation, in order to exchange expertise and experiences, thereby fostering integration among entities in the nonprofit sector; to achieve effective contributions and highlight the role of the nonprofit sector and community participation in realizing the goals of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030.
The forum’s program includes numerous seminars and events featuring panel discussions and dialogues, as well as an accompanying exhibition showcasing the most notable local experiences and expertise. It also offers the opportunity to participate in workshops led by experts on a variety of topics.
The forum’s sessions will address a number of key themes, most notably: art in public spaces; expanding the concept of quality of life in residential neighborhoods to include the improvement of the social and urban environment through the development of indicators to measure community satisfaction; as well as leveraging the role of urban parks in humanizing cities and promoting principles that support a higher quality of life and well-being for people.
It is worth noting that the first edition of the Community Participation Forum, held last June in the Eastern Province under the slogan “Musharak,” during which the most significant challenges in community participation were discussed, and the most prominent solutions and practices that contribute to achieving the goals of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 were reviewed, with the aim of establishing a community partnership that achieves sustainable urban development.
